Join Hudson Valley author Jodé Millman for a look inside The Empty Kayak, the latest mystery in her true-crime-inspired Queen City Crimes series. Set along the Hudson River, the story follows a suspicious drowning that uncovers secrets, betrayals and a mystery where the truth is as murky as the river itself.

Sephardic Jewish merchant Luis Moses Gomez arrived in New York in the early 1700s and later expanded his business interests north into the Hudson Valley, establishing property near present-day Marlboro. That site became home to what is recognized as the nation's oldest Jewish dwelling and has experienced more than 300 years of transformation.
