Countering Antisemitism & Hate is a guidebook with solutions as its main focus. Parents, grandparents, and educators of Jewish children need to prepare our youngsters, ‘tweens, and teens for the challenges they face from antisemitism, bullying, and other bias. In order to fully comprehend the solutions, background information on both the current breadth of antisemitism and the historical building of Jewish identity, values, pride, and empathy are summarized first. The main resources offered are interactive, engaging and enjoyable tools to safely push back against antisemitism. Adults can learn, model, and help the younger generation practice these activities to use when an antisemitic incident occurs. Included are how-to — form a T.E.A.M. with your family to effectively support and protect each other; foster Jewish identity and pride, the foundation to stand up and speak out; recognize a safety issue and understand the necessity to share details with a trusted adult. In addition, scenarios for different age groups provide for youths’ thinking about and discussing nonviolent ways to be an UPstander who deters antisemitism.
